Accounting Portfolio

Welcome! This portfolio showcases a selection of accounting projects I have completed to strengthen my technical skills and apply accounting concepts to realistic business scenarios. One of the things I enjoy most about accounting is understanding not only how individual tasks are performed, but how the entire accounting system works together to produce accurate, reliable financial information. Building these projects has allowed me to explore that process while continuing to develop my skills in Excel, financial analysis, and professional documentation. 

The companies and financial data used throughout this portfolio are fictional and were created for educational and portfolio purposes. However, the accounting principles, workflows, and reporting practices reflect the types of work commonly performed by bookkeepers and staff accountants. I plan to continue expanding this portfolio as I grow professionally and develop new skills throughout my accounting career.

Each project includes a brief narrative describing the business scenario, methodology, skills demonstrated, and key takeaways, along with the supporting Excel workbook.

Bank Reconciliation Project

Prepared a complete month-end bank reconciliation for a fictional small business, identified reconciling items, recorded the necessary book-side journal entries, and documented the reconciliation process. This project demonstrates cash account analysis, journal entry preparation, and professional financial documentation.


Accounts Payable Aging Project

Prepared an Accounts Payable Aging Schedule using Excel to classify outstanding invoices by due date and summarize vendor liabilities. This project also documents the accounts payable workflow and the internal controls that support an effective AP process.
