Banana Nog (Quick Vegan Eggnog)

Tuesday, November 01, 2016

So way back in November 2014 I became addicted to banana nog. Yes, banana nog.

The good news is that banana nog is actually pretty healthy. That's why it was my drink of choice that year instead of hot cocoa (I had not yet figured out how to make The Skinniest Cocoa of them All). It's even pretty quick to toss together, so I didn't spend as much of my writing time procrastinating in the kitchen.

The recipe is meant to be more of a guideline than anything else. Don't like so much rum flavor? Then reduce or eliminate it. Want more? Increase it a bit. Don't like cloves? Then leave them out. This is the way I like my banana nog. You'll have to experiment a bit to figure out what you like best (especially since our "dashes" may not be exactly the same).

Banana Nog (Quick Vegan Eggnog)

Ingredients:

  • 2 frozen bananas, broken into smaller pieces
  • 2 cups of water or mild-tasting nondairy milk
  • A dash of cinnamon
  • A slightly smaller dash of nutmeg
  • A pinch of ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (or less if you used a vanilla nondairy milk)
  • 1/4 teaspoon rum extract
  • Stevia working solution, to taste

Directions:

Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into your drink container of choice. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon if you're feeling fancy. Serve.
